This week’s featured volunteer is Stersia Botha. She has been working with us for years and always lights up our modest premises with her presence.
She only joins us once or twice a month; but when she is here, she moves mountains!
Stersia gave us some insight as to what it is like to do the Lord’s work at The Store House.
I love it when a plan comes together, especially the Lord’s plan. Being a volunteer at The Storehouse is seeing that often, and of course experiencing God’s provision, blessing and goodness through the hard work of especially Isabell and the team at The Storehouse. It’s an honour to be part of such a wonderful bunch of people. Stersia Botha
You can be a star just like Stersia, help us light up lives and do the good work!
Wendy has been volunteering at The Storehouse since it was first established over a decade ago, she has become more than a volunteer and is a part of the family here.
We asked Wendy what her feelings were about volunteering, The Storehouse and her connection with our loving Father.
One of my gifts is serving – helping the church and The Storehouse.
He brings the connection of people who become friends.
I care for people by sharing what the Lord provides through the donations distributed by The Storehouse.
I appreciate what I have, and determine to give what is available.
This provided me with much opportunity to praise God and give thanks to Him – I live to glorify His Name.
Until He opens another chapter, I will serve Him through this ministry. Wendy Tamkei
We love seeing people align their lives with the Lord’s will to be charitable and help our neighbours!
The time and value invested by volunteers can never be over-estimated. At The Storehouse we would not be able to function effectively and efficiently without the value added by our core group of volunteers. On a few occasions during the year, they are joined by a bigger group on once-off helpers. This time around it was for our big summer change over.
A huge THANK YOU to the 26 volunteers who showed up on Saturday morning to take part in our Summer Change of Season event. They helped sort the 175 pairs of shoes donated by the Hatfield Christian Church congregation during their spring celebration. Along with the trailer load of shoes were many bags of summer clothes to be sorted and packed in correct sizes on the shelves… ready to be packed as parcels for the never shrinking list of benefactors.
During their spring celebration on Sunday the 4th September, the Hatfield Christian Church, encouraged the congregation to donate a pair of sneakers or other shoes to The Storehouse.
God’s people showed up in numbers and we collected a trailer full of shoes. A very big THANK YOU to each one who parted with a beloved member of their shoe collection, in order that someone in need may have a pair of good shoes. We appreciate every one of you. Through, your empathy you’ve indeed walked a mile in the shoes of someone less fortunate.
The next step in getting these shoes to those who most need it, is to do the big SORT. This coming Saturday, 17th September, you can join for the summer change of season event. This is where we pack away all the last signs of winter in the Storehouse and get ready to be able to give out summer clothes.
Many hands are needed to make the size and gender sorting, packing and ironing light work. Hope to see you there and please invite friends and family to join you.
Venue: Hatfield Christian Church Lion Hall
Time: 08h30 till 13h00. Join for an hour of two if you cannot stay the full time.
